Multimodal travel behaviour, also termed multimodality, refers to as the phenomenon of an individual using more than one mode transport in a given period. Studies indicate that encouraging multimodality may provide solution induce modal shifts towards sustainable transport. In this research, we investigate distribution mode-specific attitudes and attitude-mode use incompatibilities across clusters levels Netherlands Mobility Panel. We find most positive attitude does not necessarily correspond with highest level use. Attitudes car are positive, independent cluster membership multimodality. multimodal public users (compared car-dominant users) those higher likely be attitudinally incompatible frequently-used modes composition their existing sets travelling. This suggests individuals tend experience cognitive dissonance Our findings help uncover psychological mechanism underlying recent important finding inclined change patterns over time.
